Great news

Hi!
I want to tell about what happened the last 24 hours in my home. All started last night with a phone call at half past ten of the night. My mum said that it could be one of her work, and answered the phone. Then, she yelled. I didn’t know what happened, and I continued chatting on my computer. She seemed to be very excited, and when she hung it up, she told my brother and I that Joan has just been phoned by the hospital, that there was a kidney for him. In that moment, my heart stopped beating for a few seconds. I had to take my time to assimilate the big new.
Joan is my mum’s boyfriend and he is our neighbor too. He is like a father to me. He has kidney problems; they didn’t work, so he had been doing dialysis for more than 3 years. He inspired me for my “treball de recerca”, that I talked about dialysis and kidney transplant. Joan is a very funny man, and he has a lot of energy and he always make jokes about his kidney’s problem.
Before he left, I went to wish him very luck, and I found him very happy and smiling, with a lot of energy. So at eleven o’clock pm, my mum, Joan and his son went to the Can Ruti hospital, in Badalona. We knew there was the possibility that the kidney could have some problems and he couldn’t be transplanted. But we thought in the possibility of a real transplant, and with the idea that no more dialysis.
Once he arrived at hospital, he had to stay there and the doctors made him a lot of analysis before they could say if he could be transplanted. My mum and Joan’s son came back home, because the nurses told them so.
At the morning, I went to the school, and my mum went to work. We didn’t know still if that kidney was for him. So we were really nervous. I called my mum on our break, but she didn’t know it. But a few hours later, she called me. She was so nervous and she told me that at 3 o’clock he would enter at the operation room. I was shaking. That were really good big news. Then I called Joan and wish him really good luck. As normal, he was very happy and funny. Then my mum went to the hospital to be with him before he entered to the OR. At 8 pm, I texted to my mum asking if the operation had gone well. She told me that all was going great. I was really happy.
Now, he had to spend 10 or 12 days in hospital and after that he could turn back home with a new kidney and free of dialysis.

A day in Barcelona

I just arrived from Barcelona. I spent the day there, with my brothers and the German girl who is in our home this week. We wanted to go someplace to show to Jenny, so we thought it would be a good idea to show her Barcelona. We knew that she’s going to BCN tomorrow, so we tried to show her some places that with the school wouldn’t visit, like Ciutadella’s Park.
We went to Barcelona by train. We caugt it my little brother Miquel and Jenny, and there we met my older brother Jordi. Then we started walking around. We went to see the new and very modern Gas Natural’s building. It’s very beautiful, a part of the building seems like is floating on the air, amazing! Then we went to the beach for a while, and then we had lunch on a Fresc Co, a self-service of salad, pasta and pizza. Very good! Then we catch the underground and we went to Arc de Triomf and Ciutadella’s Park. After a while, we were really tired, and we decided to come back to home. After an hour and a half of train, we arrived home.
Jenny is here since Thursday, and she’s going to go back to her house the next Thursday. She’s on an exchange with Miquel. Miquel went to Germany the last month for a week too. She’s a nice girl. We talk in Spanish, and if she doesn’t understand, my brother says it in German (he talks German very well), and if my brother doesn’t know how to say it, I talk her in English. And if after this, we don’t make us understand by talking, we make understand by signs, which are international.
I hope she’s having a good time here.
